Summary of relevant work and professional experience
Current position : Chief, Commodities and Projections Service, Commodities and Trade Division, FAO (1999-).
Main functions : gives overall guidance to the Division’s trade policy work ; oversees the Division’s work on medium-term projections, including the FAO World Food Model, and modelling of agricultural trade policies ; supervises the Division’s technical assistance work in the trade policy area, including assistance relating to the WTO negotiations on agriculture ; acts as the Secretary of FAO Inter-Departmental Working Group on the Multilateral Trade Negotiations and maintains the FAO Inter-Departmental Website (www.fao.org/trade) on trade policy matters.

Other professional activities : have undertaken a large number of advisory missions and consultations with governments in Asia, Africa and Latin America, including economic policy advisory assistance to Egypt, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Tanzania, South Africa, Madagascar, Peru, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Nigeria, Tunisia, Philippines, Indonesia, UNDP, UNECA, CEPAL, ESCAP, AU and ACP ; have been lecturer/discussant in a large number of seminars and training workshops for government officials ; have contributed to the substantive preparation of, and attended most of, the major international conferences and negotiations on trade and development issues of the UN system and GATT/WTO held over the past two decades.
